The Lithuanian Gambling Regulatory Authority has imposed a €15,000 (£12,881 / $17,908) fine on operator UAB Tete-a-Tete Casino, owner of the Cbet brand, for unreasonably setting betting limits for online customers.
Upon inspection, the Authority found that the company had limited the number of bets placed and winnings received by the player.
The inspection did not find any objective reasons for the operator's decision to limit player bets, the supervisory authority said.
The decision to impose the fine was based on Lithuanian rules on remote gaming, which do not allow the company to apply betting restrictions without finding a breach in the rules.
The regulator stated that the relationship between the customer and the operator cannot be unreasonably vague and therefore a player cannot be restricted from participating in gambling without any objective reason for the restrictions defined in the rules.
This is the first fine imposed by the Gambling Supervision Authority since the Lithuanian Gambling Law introduced the power to impose economic sanctions on operators. - https://casinonutansvensklicens.net/ reports.
The regulator's decision is not final and can be appealed in the statutory procedure.
In November last year, a court fined a Cbet employee €1,500 after finding that he had breached national rules regarding advertising.
The employee was found to have breached the rules introduced in November 2019 by stating that gambling advertising was limited to showing only the name, trademarks and types of gambling the operator could offer.
No additional written, visual or audio content was allowed in the advertisement.
